What We Do:

  • Act as an organized voice on issues of importance to Lake Norman Wakeboarders and Water Skiers with the Lake Norman Marine Commission.

  • Promote FUN and Safety through formal safety clinics, driver clinics, CPR training and learn to ski clinics!

  • Relieve skiers the expense and maintenance of privately owned slalom courses on Lake Norman.

  • Allow skiers access to our slalom courses on Lake Norman. (The Lake Norman Marine Commission does not permit individually owned slalom courses.)

  • Teach members how to ski, wakeboard or run the slalom courses using the latest techniques and equipment available.

  • We offer coaching for Wakeboarding at both the Beginner and Advanced levels.. in addition we offer Learn2Ski events that are open to non-members.

  • The Club holds regular scheduled practice sessions for wakeboarding, skiing and running the slalom course weekly as a club.

  • Continued support of the Lake Norman Marine Commission, Red Cross, USA Water Ski and the North Carolina Ski Federation through donations of club dues not used to run this non-profit organization.

  • Community service activities within the Lake Norman area.

Ski Club Membership Benefits Include:

  • Learn to Wakeboard, Ski and Slalom days.  We love to Coach and pass on tricks and tips.  You don't need to have an inboard ski boat or fancy equipment to be a member, just a desire to learn to ski to or wakeboard while getting wet!

  • Wakeboard and Waterski Clinics coached by Pro Riders... available FREE with your membership.

  • We have Slalom and Wakeboard clinics/dates already being scheduled for the 2009 season (call to get signed up!!).  We will continue to hold learn2ski days for members and non-members wanting to get up on the water for their first time!

  • Weekly scheduled practice sessions with other members to learn new tricks and techniques. (Wakeboard, Kneeboard, Hydrofoil, Slalom, Trick etc...)

  • USA Water Ski Certification and Training.  We have many members that have become US Water Ski Certified Boat Drivers, Water Ski Instructors and Safety Coordinators through the club, & we use their training to support our clinics.

  • Access to Club Coaching and area pro riders on a scheduled basis.  (Get involved and we can help you team up with others looking for the same time slots & level of training/practice.)

  • Club events including Ski-a-thons, learn to wakeboard and ski days... and my favorite, the Club BBQs!!   Ü

  • Tournament Ski Lake access.  Our Ski Club has rented and has plans to continue to rent time on private tournament ski lakes in the area for special events,  training and coaching sessions.

  • Usage of our easily accessible slalom courses, (courses are located on the North and South ends of Lake Norman).  Club members would love to assist you with your techniques and practice routines or to teach you how to just get on a slalom ski for your first time!  We will be there to assist you to successfully ski the slalom course, build on your free ski techniques, or get to tournament speeds & rope lengths.

  • Tournaments!!!   The Ski Club will again be hosting Wakeboard and Slalom tournaments (4 each)  to cover all levels of talent again this season!  The lowest slalom level is for skiers that can not make a complete pass and the lowest wakeboarding level is for riders that can not complete any inverts.  So don't shy away from the tournaments, they are designed to be FUN for everyone to participate and they help you get to know other members.

  • Complete access with training on raising and lowering the ski clubs submerged accu-sink slalom ski courses on Lake Norman.  (Be careful, you will get addicted to skiing the slalom courses!)

  • FREE pulls behind the best ski and wakeboard boats available.  Local dealers are scheduled to pull our weekly Tuesday & Thursday Clinics and Tournaments at Vinnie's Sardine with their latest models.  Beware, you will find yourself wanting to upgrade your boat after riding in or being pulled behind these new models!  They sure don't make boats like they did in the old days!!!

  • Flexibility.  If you think the club doesn't quite fit your needs.. get involved and help us improve the club.  We're like old dogs just waiting to learn new tricks.  Don't get caught just sitting on shore when you can be part of the action.. as a Skier, Boarder,  Coach or just being behind the scenes helping organize or coordinate events or teaming with our sponsors to improve the club.  If you're into water sports, Lake Norman Ski Club is a prefect fit.

  • Ski Club shirts are now available!  Nothing like styling with your own Lake Norman Ski Club shirt, sweat shirt or polo!
